LMARS Antenna Build & Fox Hunt

We are in the process of planning our next antenna build and fox hunt. If you would like to participate in the antenna build we need you to register so we have enough supplies.

Fox Hunt: February/March (date TBD)

Location: TBD

Time: TBD

Fox Frequency: 147.555 MHz**

Expected Schedule:

• 9:00: Arrive and gather team details
• 9:15 - 9:30: What is and how to Fox Hunt:
• 9:45: First team begins the hunt. We will send teams out every 5 minutes
• Once the majority of teams make it to the ending point we will start cooking for the cookout.
• Group picture at ending location and picture of top two teams in each category.

Don't forget to bring: Your antenna and handheld radio. If you don’t have the needed gear but would like to join the fun let us know. We can put you with a team and you can still participate, learn, and have fun. Appropriate clothing: Check the weather before you come out. Don't forget rain jackets, hat, sunglasses, jacket if needed. Drink and snacks during the hunt if you want

What is a Fox Hunt?

A hidden transmitter "Fox" will be someone in the Winter Springs Area. Use your radio to locate the fox. Your goal to find the transmitter in the shortest amount of time. Are you not sure how to Fox Hunt, no worries, we will have a small class. We will start from the LMARS meeting location, the Winter Springs Civic Center and the hiding spot will be one of the local parks within a 7-mile radius of the starting point. For safety and fellowship reasons, we will hunt in teams of two. Call a friend in the club and have them partner with you, or if you don't have a partner, we can team you up before we start. Just show up. After we are done, we will have a cookout.

Participant Categories:

• Tape measure antenna. It can be from the class or one you made on your own. Here is the link to the instructions. Make sure you download your copy.

• Other Antennas: Homebrew or store-bought.

Don't want to participate but want to help? If you don't want to participate in the hunt, but you are willing to help, please let us know. All help is greatly appreciated. We need folks to help on the grilling team and the transmitter team. The transmitter team will hide the transmitter, do the sendoff, and record the ending times.
